More about this scene
The Earlswood Lakes are on Earlswood Common, south of Redhill. In spite of its name, the New Pond was dug back in the 14th century, and was once a popular bathing place. Whilst the two ladies in the nearby canoe appear perilously close to running aground on the bank, their male counterpart beyond the canopied launch is cutting a more spectacular dash.
