More about this scene

To the south-east of mediaeval Finchley, the High Road drops down from the North Circular Road between an almost standard series of parade shops built around the turn of the century, and past the Rex Cinema built in 1910, among the earliest in Greater London. At the foot of the hill is the brick and concrete underground station of 1939, designed by Charles Holden and L H Bucknell. On a building excelling in proportion rather than decoration, the prominent statue of an archer by E Aumonier provides relief.

The Estate Agent is still there. Next to it is "Tudor 4000" which sold electrical goods and also a small ...see more
