More about this scene
The Georgian practice of the leisured classes of promenading along the water's edge for therapeutic reasons continued to be popular during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, and imposing parades were constructed at the larger resorts. Eastbourne's Grand Parade consisted of three terraces stretching from the Wish Tower to the Pier; it has been described as 'one of the finest of its kind in England.'
