Place Of Birth

A Memory of Eastry.

From just about where the photograph was taken I was born.  The house was called Forge House obviously because of the Forge which my father used as a shed to house chickens in and then used as a workshop for his carpentry.  He was Foreman carpenter at Tilmanstone colliery. My brother and I were both born in the house which I believe now is being used as a care home.  I was 16 when that photo was taken.

Hello, yes this is currently used as a care home. I was wondering if you could shed some light on what used to be where Eastry House residential home is now (next to the alley by forge house) :)
Across the alleyway were houses which we could see from our living room window just over the top of our wall which ran all the way to the top of our garden. A big house stood at the top behind them. If I remember correctly there was a smaller care home behind the houses.
