Broadway Cinema Eccles

A Memory of Eccles.

I'm Wayne Kenzitt and Ive lived in Eccles for a long time. I remember going to the Broadway on a regular basis and it was a great cinema, which was only a shilling to go in and even had balcony seats.

Some of the films were made by the CFF (Childrens Film Foundation), and also the Manager would come onto the stage to announce what films were being shown.

It was a shame it was closed down and I remember it being turned into Kwik Save Supermarket.

What year was this as I was born and bred in Monton Road Eccles. I remember going to the Broadway pictures as a child and standing outside asking an adult to take us in as it was an A rated film. Sadly you couldn't do that now as it would be too dangerous, those were the days my friend we thought they'd never end. My maiden name was Sylvia Tasker.
