Elm Park
A Memory of Elm Park.
I grew up in Elm Park from 1963 until moving away in 1978. I loved the carefree childhood I had, going over the park with the beautiful weeping willow trees, the huge lake and woods, the brilliant swimming pool, and doing penny for the guy outside the train station, such a safe area. All the neighbours watched out for each other, kids played on the street. And later getting the 252 or 165 to Romford market. I went to Dunningfords school, sadly no longer there, and Abbs Cross. I lived in Woburn Avenue with the tennis club on the same road, and our house backed on to the railway lines, and I remember waving to my mum when she was on the train coming home from work. The tuck box for my first pack of 5 cigarettes , Park drive! I was still in primary school too! I did go back in 2009, and the area had changed so much, but I have very fond memories
