Childhood Visits To The Old Post Office

A Memory of Farleigh Hungerford.

I visited the old post office with my mother in the early to mid 1960's. I believe that my mother was related to the lady who ran the post office and the little shop, perhaps a cousin. I don't remember the name of the family, however, I believe that the daughter's name may have been Susan. They may have had another child, but I am not sure. I recall that the father operated a daily farm on leased land just up the hill from the post office.

The building used to be a mill, my recollection is that the water wheel was still attached at that time, however, that may be a flight of memory..

I had not thought of this place until recently, I am returning for a visit to England and it came to mind as I plan my itinerary. My memory of it was so clear that I was able to locate it on Google Maps without any difficult. Quite surprisingly, it has hardly changed in all of these years.
