This photograph depicts local residents out shopping in Farnborough. Many of the townsfolk would have been in the audience at Aldershot's famous Rushmoor Arena when military tattoos were staged there. The annual displays were first held in 1894, and were sometimes attended by as many as half a million people.

I lived in farnborough for first 28 years of my life, got married and had 4 children there. Grew up on the Sinehurst Estate then moved to Grange then Hawley estates. Went to Farnborough Grange Schools when they were still terrapin huts. Remember ballet lessons at the Jubilee Hall, the Tumble Down Dick when it was full of hippies. I have great memory's of farnborough in the 60s I was in the Royal Engineers stationed at Cove, had a girlfriend that lived in Melrose Avenue the road opposite the shops shown in the photo of the shops on the Pyestock estate

My name is Marilyn and I lived in Rectory road, Farnborough and enjoyed some very happy days there before moving to Australia.
I used to walk to Frimley green to visit my Aunty Rosemary and my Nanna. And in the other direction I used to walk to Salisbury Grove, Mytchitt to visit my other Nanna & Grandad.

well Farnborough how I knew it and now to this date.
tumbledown dick has changed over the years it has now been changed to fast food area.
many shops have gone rent prices gone up. bowling arena coming soon and new cinema.
post office in queensmead now within Asda Iceland closed. princemead is expanding
