More about this scene

Once the port for Canterbury, Fordwich was a town when Domesday was compiled. Now it is now just an attractive riverside village. The church is 14th-century, though there are some traces of Saxon work, and is dedicated to St Mary. The Caen stone used in the construction of Canterbury Cathedral was landed here.
