I grew up living in Kingwood Road in the flats, firstly the last block 25a then when I was 5yrs to the first block 1f, which holds most of my memories. We would, as kids in the street, roller skate, play hopscotch, stretch our skipping ropes across the road to the other side so a group of us girls could jump in and out, and the boys would play football down the centre of the road. I was born in and grew up in 90 Shorrolds Road. We had some great times, no money but that didn't matter. We were always out in all weathers on our skates then bikes and then scooters. I went to Sherbrooke Road school, passed the 11 plus and went to Sloane Grammar School. I left Fulham in 1981 and went to live in Basingstoke where I still live. I was born in Fulham at the Parsons Green Maternity Hospital in 1948. Our family lived in Shorrolds Road, which we shared with my mother's uncle and his wife. My friends and I used to go to BHS in North End Road to have a hot chocolate and chat up the local girls and then take them out on our scooters, great days. I now live in South Humberside which is a far cry from Fulham, but I will always have fond memories of the sixties and my home town.
Mum remembers going across Parsons Green durig the war and the air raid had gone off, then she heard a doodlebug above her, she ran into the gents toilets and heard it land somewhere near, she never been that frightened since.   Mum and Dad both lived next door to each other in Broughton Road, Fulham, they were big houses, one family lived on top floor, another downstairs.
