Childrens Care Home.

A Memory of Gomersal.

During the early 1940s I was placed in care with my older brother, John, in a care home in Gomersal. I have very vivid memories of the home but have been unable to locate exactly where it was. Can anybody remember anything about this care home. Any information would be gratefully received.

There was a children's home on Lower Lane in Little Gomersal when I grew up in the 60s
My partner Sylvia (nee Old) was also at the home in Lower lane. She was there between 1947c - 1949c with her older brother Derek Old. We are currently unable to gleam any info at all about the place at that time. Any pointers would be much appreciated.
I lived in this children's home from 1977 until 1984 and went to st mary's school,Was the best years of my life,i even played in the park on lower lane and had friends that used to live opposite.
For people that have read articles about abuse in the home this is incorrect as i lived there for 7 years and i never saw any abuse at all.
there was also Follingworth house that was a children's home
I had a school friend who stayed here at the same time as you and by the name of Sykes but not Karl. We're there any others by the name of Sykes other than you.
I was at follingworth house 1981
I was in a care home in Gomersal with my sister and brother but cannot remember the name of it. It was in 42 onwards. Would love to hear more.
