Growing Up In Gorton, Tompson Road
A Memory of Gorton.
Most of my family grew up on tompson road, just off mount road. With the old doctors surgery on the corner. My dad Charlie Parkinson lived at the first house opposite the doctors, no 2. My mum Mary Fisher lived at no 14 with her brothers Joseph, Frank, John and Gerad and her sister Ann. Mum was talking about school days and how she left Sacred Heart school at 15. She is now 80, My brothers and sisters also attended Sacred Heart. Paul, John, Stacey,Juliet and myself Lindsey Parkinson. We had some great memories growing up there. Mum always talks about some bike track I think and how she would go out nice and clean and come back home filthy haha. Mum and Dad went to move onto Sandringham street and as the family became bigger moved to dane bank. Does anybody know if sacred heart accommodated pupils til they were 15 at that time. Mum would have started juniors age 7 so approx 1943. Thank you
