More about this scene
Back to the east of St Peter's Hill, the photographer looks north along Castlegate, with the Beehive Inn on the left; the leaves hide a beehive set in the tree, which is still there. The name sign 'East Street' has been reused on a 1960s replacement for the buildings on the right, while beyond the Gothic-style school soars the 280 feet tower and spire of St Wulfram's.
