44 Cricketfield Rd

A Memory of Hackney.

This address was a large terraced home which once belonged to my paternal grandmother.she rented rooms out (after my grandad had passed away)
I remember it from visits there when my aunt betty and family lived there.
The attic or loft was once home to my parents who as newlyweds set up home there..my father made it very comfortable .stylish..renovated it and mum kept it immaculate...
I do know my father had a chance to buy it but never did...and i wonder what that property is worth now.
My parents eventually bought a home in hemel hempstead....herts
My dad would travel to his job at Wimpy....builders.construction company..he was a draughtsman
My memories of hackney are delicious greek bread from baker round corner from aunts house
Nice park etc at hackney downs
Market day....also my cousin debbie and i dancing..to Kung Fu Fighting circa 1976/77
My cousin tim playing records of david bowie...
Debbies wedding aug 1977...seeing mum and dad dancing a Jive....i was flabbergasted..never saw them dance like that before then.
Aunty betty.s roast dinners.
And their black lab....Sweep.
Fun times......oh and ....
Being whistled at as i walked along road ....
Oh to be 16 again!
Hackney is in my blood and my heart
Thru association.through family history....
