More about this scene

This attractive view is little changed today, except that the Green, predictably, is kept close-mown now, and woe betide any daisy that shows its head. The spindly oak tree is now a splendid specimen and several more trees have been planted. Just behind the car is Church Lane, which leads to Hallow Old Churchyard. While nothing remains of the medieval church, the leafy old graveyard has become something of a wildlife refuge. An adjacent footpath leads to a viewpoint over the Severn Valley and then down past Hallow Park, where Elizabeth I hunted in 1575, to the river itself.
