The Threepenny Bit House/Roundhouse

A Memory of Hemel Hempstead.

I remember as far back when i was 6 years old . I lived in the little house that used to be by the black iron bridge in gadebridge lane . I was born in the little house called the threepenny bit house . I remember playing in the park with my mums sisters there sir name was black. My grandfather used to look after the rivergade and keep in clean . We used to sail down the river in a old tin bath . I dant really know much as i was to yound but my mum tells me loads of stories about that old house. We moved from that house i think in 1963 after that i dont know what happened or when it was demolished . I only have one photo of the house and that is very dear to me.hhope someone can tell me more about the house ..

I used to live in Woodview as a child and vaguely remember the 'round house' as my Dad used to call it when we went fishing with nets in the Gade in summer, I distinctly remember falling in the river once near the round house. We used to play in the ruins of the old Gadebridge House which was nearly opposite my old house it is now all a new housing estate but was Kodak buildings for quite a few years.
I lived the gadebridge i use to go to park with my sister in 1950s we used to play in the river with Maggie Black and hers sisters who lived in the round house
I remember that cute wee house too. Such a shame it was demolished. I lived in Pudding Lane ,Gadebridge from around '63 when I was 10. Many memories of the grounds of the demolished Gadebridge House and of the river Gade, Scenes of my youthful adventures.
