More about this scene
'Staithe' is an Anglo-Saxon word for landing-place. It is the word used for all mooring places on the Broads, whether along the river or up an inlet. Beyond the staithe, the inlet opens into Hickling Broad, which at 400 acres is the largest of the Norfolk Broads.
