More about this scene

The pretty estate village of Hovingham, in the Vale of Pickering, is famous for its lime trees which shade the entrance to Hovingham Hall, built about 1760 by Thomas Worsley, Surveyor General to William III. A pleasing mixture of architectural styles is seen in this photograph of the centre of the village.
