I have so many memories of this place. I was born in Martley Drive, 1947, my grandparents originally bought the house back in the 1920s when they moved from Bethnal Green. I lived in Ilford Lane when this happened. We heard fire appliances going past most of the night as I believe they were bringing in water tankers from as far as Tilbury.
