Last Scene 1985

A Memory of Jersey.

I spent many childhood holidays visiting our Auntie, Uncle & Cousin Jersey. On one particular occasion, when I was about four & a half, I received the news of the birth of my sister in 1950, at the time my relatives lived in St. Helier, later they moved to St. Brelade overlooking the bay. My older brother, cousin & I had fun either at the beach or blackberry picking. In the summer of 1966, I went to Jersey for a vacation and to contemplate my future. I was no longer happy to live in England, Wilson’s Labour government was becoming intolerable, the weather conditions were depressing, and I had been told by doctors that a warmer climate might help my anaemic condition. I went all on my ownsome, just to give the problem a lot of thought without any interference. I didn't wish to discuss it, just try to make a decision. My final visit was when I was in England, I went to see my widowed Aunt, by chance our Uncle & aunt were visiting from Boscombe.
