More about this scene

The village church was far larger than the local population could support. This was because the Bishops of Worcester maintained a palace in the village, and the church had to be big enough to accommodate the Bishop's entourage.

A Selection of Memories from Kempsey

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Kempsey

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I lived in Kempsey from1949-1953, at Bank House, otherwise known as The Kempsey Cafe and Filling Station. I went to the council school and attended St Mary's Church along with my sister Marian. I remember vividly the floods from the ford that regularly cut off this little road, and the Michaelmas daisies that grew in the garden of the second cottage. I also went to school with Teresa. Just great memories!!! Hello to anyone that may also remember those days Sylvia Cutler-Anderson
A nice Village and Church
I lived in the 2nd cottage Cobblers cottage. around 1947-1957.Mrs Bremner my mother. I remember how Church street always got flooded from the ford.
