More about this scene
This palatial neo-Georgian building was opened in 1913 as the boys' Grammar School, in the right part of the building, and the girls' High School on the left. The central block held art rooms and other communal areas, but great effort was made to keep the sexes separate. In the early 1960s the Grammar School moved to a new building in Windmill Avenue, and the Borough Council took over the building.
