More about this scene
Lynn (the King's was added by Charles I in recognition of this town's loyalty to the Royalist cause) lies about 1.5 miles inland, where Lynn Cut meets the Great Ouse. A fully ebbed tide allows the rudder construction to be seen on the 29-ton 'Leader', which was built in Yarmouth in 1860. In 1890 she was owned by Joseph Draw in Lynn. The plank serving as a gangway to the vessel from the bank had, until comparatively recent legislation, been the cause of many an accident as crew returned to their various ships after a run ashore.
