A Memory of Kippax.

My Great Grandmother, Ana Louisa Clayton, can be found on the 1881 census working in the Old Tree.
The old cinema is hidden on the right. I watched "whistle down the wind" there with my sister which must have been not long before it closed.

My wife worked in the "old" Co-op on the left

Went to see movie Room at the Top in the cinema . You could not- get in a cinema in Castleford if you were not 16 but everyone under 16 wanted to see the movie . Remember taking Jam Jars to cinema in Castleford called the Queens, you needed three to get free a seat in Gods. which was in third level with wooden benches. Also remember taking jam jars (for glass) to rag and bone man who used to come round village Methley every couple of weeks.
