Launceston, Old Hill 1906

More about this scene
Old Hill's official name is St Thomas Hill, and it was once used as a toboggan run when there was snow on the ground — rather a hair-raising ride! This picture sheds an interesting light on Edwardian sensibilities: there are at least two other versions, in both of which the horse manure has been removed by careful touching up.
