Letham School 1836
A Memory of Letham.
My husband's Great Great Grandfather, Alexander Clayhills Cameron, attended the Letham School for five years . We have a reference written by his teacher, Mr G Millar and dated the 26th May, 1836. This letter was addressed to Mr James Wilson of Foodie, his uncle.
In 1840, Alexander worked for 18 months as a miller with Mr James Forrest, a miller of Milldens. We have a certificate of this employment dated 26th May, 1840.
His Uncle, James Cameron lived at 'Bractullo' for a number of years.
Alexander Cameron was indentured to Mr Phillip Russell and travelled to Australia starting his employment in Tasmania and then travelling to Victoria where he subsequently married and settled.
