More about this scene
In a field near Lilbourne's All Saints church are the remains of several burial mounds from the Roman encampment. The church, noted for its low battlemented 15th-century tower, dates back to the 13th and 14th centuries. The village's close proximity to Watling Street made it a prosperous community in medieval times.
