The name 'Llandaff' means 'the sacred enclosure on the river Taff', and Llandaff is one of the earliest ecclesiastical foundations in Wales. The new west front to the cathedral was built in c1220, and is thought to be one of the most notable works of art in Wales. The chapter house was added in the 13th century.
