More about this scene
This is arguably the most famous public open space in the world. Sir Robert Peel called it 'one of the finest sites in Europe'. It was created in the 1830s on the site of the King's Mews and a juimble fo decrepit buildings known popularly as Bermuda, Caribee, and Porridge Islands, where the poor of London frequented a plethora of cook-shops.
