More about this scene
We look eastwards from the bushes and wall of The Grove (left). This large Victorian villa was destroyed by fire in 1952, which enabled widening of the street. Opposite are No 9 (right) and No 8, Shamien House, with No 6, St Anne's and No 5, Burton House being the next visible building. Between them is the entrance to No 7, St Michael's House. Finally, towards Top of Town, is Poulett Lodge (centre) beside the grounds of the Hotel Alexandra.
