Here we see the flat-fronted Georgian buildings interspersed with Victorian and Edwardian ones that gave Maidenhead a distinctive character. The turreted and lead domed building of 1903, now Dorothy Perkins, survives, but the left hand one was replaced by a nine-storey monster office block, Berkshire House, and others were swept away in the vandalistic 1960s.
