Mawnan Smith, The Village 1930

More about this scene
South-west of Falmouth, Mawnan Smith is at a crossroads where one lane continues on to Helford Passage beside the sheltered waters of the Helford River. Children wait outside the shop, perhaps for a school bus, while a thatcher is working on a cottage roof, his ladder supported half way into the road – a dangerous situation with today's busy traffic. Two watchers stand beneath an extremely large telegraph pole (left).
