More about this scene
A well-laden coach and four arrive in the town, making its way towards the seafront and main hotels. It is passing the elaborate façade of the Market Hall, which had been completed only the year before, in 1902. Fourteen years after this photograph was taken, the science fiction writer Arthur C Clarke was born in nearby Blenheim Road.
