Morecambe, The Sands 1899

More about this scene
There is an element of restraint amongst these holiday-makers, their clothes hardly suited for the occasion as they explore the sands below the stone jetty. A few children are paddling in the water, but further along, adults swim in the sea, having changed in bathing machines that have been brought down by horses to the water's edge.
