More about this scene
Buses still use the Broadway and Northbrook Street but today traffic cannot use the section of the latter thoroughfare much beyond Wheelers Garage during the daytime. This is part of a pedestrianisation scheme carried in recent years. The premises to the right of Wheeler's is Ferguson's Wine Merchant's shop, which closed in the early 1970s and was replaced by an estate agency. The North Brook runs beneath this historic building and was known to flood.
