More about this scene
In the distance is the hill of Brentor, topped by the 12th-century church of St Michael de Rupe, which was restored by the Duke of Bedford in the 19th century. In the foreground is the village of North Brentor; Christ Church was built in 1856 after it was decided that the long walk to the old church was too much for the poor delicate villagers.
