Starting at Eastbury Road, turn right into Green Lane by the Colliver Fisher car showroom and down the hill past the Blue Bird cafe, Barclays Bank, Martins newsagent, Rawlinsons the stationer, cross the road to the Post Office on the corner, past Ryders and stop for a cuppa at Fullers tea rooms. I was born there in 1957 and lived there until 1975. Rhodes had those lovely handmade sweets. There was a Delicatessen next door..always had a lovely smell of roasting coffee - and fabulous wheels of Brie.. The reindeer pub always seemed like a modern pub out of place. In the 1960's I was bought up living at The Grange on the Rickmansworth Road in Northwood. If we turned right out of the drive at The Grange we would walk along the road to church and school at the Holy Trinity church. Further along the road was Mount Vernon hospital where my Mother was a nurse, and opposite Holy Trinity church was the riding stables where I spent many happy hours with the ...see more
It seems to be something that should be mentioned with regard to the familiar streets around old Northwood, as I remember it as a 17 year old.
