Summer Of 1949

A Memory of Patna.

My memory of Patna is an 11 year old Canadian girl visiting my Dad's oldest brother John Mackenzie & his wife Jessie. I am not sure of the address but it was something like to 2 Hill Drive
Uncle John was a very clever man. He had won several awards with his coal carvings & the one I really remember is "The Lady & the Violin". He was also a talented ventriloquist with a dummie that played the mouth organ. They had 2 sons Roddy & John both deceased. There was also a daughter May
Lost touch with her but would love to hear from her. I remember biking down a hill over a brig to go to the Co Op store I think it was to get some mince. I couldn't get over the beautiful flower gardens most of the houses have. My husband & I went for a holiday in 1994 & stayed in Patna for a couple of days at a B&B that had been the church.
My Dad was Alex Mackenzie came to Canada in 1929 with my Mom 2 brothers & a sister, I was born later. Would love to make another trip over but not as young any more & have arthritis & also it is very expensive now.
Another memory I have was visiting my Dad's Uncle Sandy & Aunt Mary Harvey. They lived around the corner from Uncle John & wasn't use to an in door bathroom. He still took the toilet seat off & set it by the stove. There you have some of my memories, Elizabeth in Fergus Ont Canada
