Growing Up In Peckham.

A Memory of Peckham.

I went to Peckham Girls School till 1964,i can only remember some of the girls in my class, Sandra Taylor, Barbara Smith, Pam Gee, Christine Magnum, Franchise Salton & Angela Ticehurst. I lived in flats facing Peckham Rye Park. I spent a lot of time at the park with friends, Carol Shepherd, Carol Gilbert, Graham Long, Martin, Chris (Male) Freddie Smith, Franchise (Male) & a few others but I cant remember all the names. I used to go to the La Discotheque in Peckham. I worked In Jones & Higgins. I got Married in 1969, I have two sons. IN 1976 we emigrated to Australia, but we have been back quite a few times, I hoped that I would bump into someone I knew, but never did, so I am hoping that this might jog someone's memory. I had long blonde hair & some of the guys that hung around the Billiard hall in Rye Lane nick named me Poodle because of it. Some of my best memories were about me growing up in Peckham. Hi Carol,
my name is Craig Jamieson and came across your post while doing some web research with regard to music in Peckham during the 60's. I'm planning to do a feature on it for the Peckham Soul website I run and would love to find out more about La Discotheque and any other venues in Peckham and South East London. If it's convenient, it be great if you could get in touch. My email is modernloversclub@yahoo.co.uk.

We lived at 44 Radnor, my name is Keith Rattray, have 3 sisters all older, Joyce, Denise and Janet.
Who remembers Radnor Road in 40s and 50s. I went to Peckham Park Primary from 47 to 51. My dad Vic worked at the arsenal and my mum at printing press. Our neighbours were the Banks, a big family, he had a Barrow in Rye Lane. The pickle factory was behind our house. The bomb sites were brilliant to play on. This was before the flats were built, it was one big adventure for us.
