Pentre Halkyn, The Square 1936

More about this scene
'The Square' seems rather a grand name for this scene. Only the central rump of this row of cottages survives today in the village, and is barely recognizable from the photograph. A large number of these small cottages have been 'done up', and not always to their advantage, but the alterations do reveal a changing pattern in village life.
