More about this scene
In Manx folklore the village was named 'the Harbour of Mary' in honour of the Blessed Virgin by Celtic missionaries, who founded a chapel here. Missionaries from Ireland began arriving in the 5th century; it is possible that St Patrick himself founded the church on St Patrick's Isle, Peel.
