Early Rainham Memorys
A Memory of Rainham.
We moved from gravesend 1948 moved in with an aunt in broadview avenue us 3 kids and mum and dad living in one bedroom a bit short of space 3 aunts and a cousin in the other 2 rooms . no television in them days just a radio lots of sing songs and card games ,, rainham woods went on forever nearly into maidstone and the river medway with the landing craft at sharps green from the war , my mum didn't see us all day on days off school ,, our school was the ex army camp so was known as the camp school then on to station road school , later we moved to romany road a new council 3 bedroom house total bliss then on to woodland road school not so good , Our dad was a boiler maker in chatham dockyard he always wanted us to work there but me and my brother took up motor fitting at Roots of maidstone , there was so much work in them days
