More about this scene

The great elm in the Square presides over village activity. On the right is One and All, a wine and spirit merchants, and next to it is Hill Brothers, grocers and spirit distillers, established in 1794. Behind the Elm is the Bell Inn, once a coaching inn on the London to Bath road. The elm, thought to have been about 300 years old when it died, has now been replaced with a young oak.

Good Times
My grandmother and grandfather lived in Oxford Street, and I remember how my mother would bring me to see and stay with them from time to time, I even remember going to the village school on one visit, I think I was about 8 or 9 yrs old, the year was about 1936. Late 1950's
Some time in the late 1950's, my best school friend's family moved to Ramsbury and ran the Post office. I used to catch the coach from London every year to stay with them during the summer holidays, and we had fun playing in the stream that ran across the bottom of their garden. Another School 1959 63
I went to school in Ramsbury from about 1959/1961, I remember the head teacher being a Mr Eastoe, I liked Ramsbury because we all used to gather at the river to go swimmimg, we used to buy an inner tube of a car at the local garage for 6 pence (old money of course).  I'm sure half of everybody who went to the river couldn't swim, but it was fun. Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
