More about this scene
The Harbour, or Sands, station dominated Ramsgate beach from the time it was constructed. It covered the site that had once been the coastguard station, which was transferred to the East Cliff. The station was reached by a tunnel dug out of the chalk cliff measuring nearly a mile long. The tunnel ended on the outskirts of Ramsgate.
