More about this scene
From within the churchyard the chequer pattern of the walls is evident, with limestone blocks alternating with small panels of flint to give a rich decorative effect. Inside, the south arcade of the nave dates from about 1200, but the rest is from Edward VI's reign. Until its restoration in the 1860s there were dormer windows in the aisle roof.
