More about this scene
Situated north-west of Newport, Risca is a typical valley community. There were lime kilns at Dan-y-Graig, where a Roman lead mine was also discovered. In our post-industrial age you can now follow the same road out of Risca to the Dan-y-Graig nature reserve, which is situated on land given to the Gwent Wildlife Trust by the Risca Mineworkers Flower Show Society in 1987.
