Tony Renwick Leiden Name Of Orphanage In Riverhead

A Memory of Riverhead.

Rock House in chipstead lane i think. I, Tony Renwick, lived in marlborough crescent went to amherst primary school in the 1960s. I remember an amusing boy fred and another girl from rock house orphanage(?) in the class and teachers Miss Nunnerley, MIss Parsons, and Mr Reynolds, Mr Poole was the head. Rock house was in chipstead lane i believe.
I moved out in about 1981 and the house was sold in about 1984 after which i lived with my mother in a bungalow in Rowlands Castle. At the time I worked for Marconi Space in Portsmouth. I have lived in Leiden in The Netherlands since 1997.
My mother did work part time in the VG shop for a a time in the 1970s
Does anyone remember John Henley, Mick Robbins or Tom Clements all of Marlboro'?

In Leiden I have met an Alex from Lyndhurst Drive who was running the Rose & Crown bar near the station, a former Skinners pupil. Myself and Alex are both in our fifties.
Neighbours were the Kings, Afterguts, Charles and the vicar of the united church the Whitehorns

I grew up in Lyndhurst Drive with my Grandparents Harry and Josephine Stokes. They were friends with the Afterguts. I remember the Afterguts garden backed into the area behind 'new' Marlborough Crescent where the ponds were.
I grew up in Chipstead Lane just opposite the bottom corner of the common, in the 70's. I went to Riverhead Infants when it was next to the church and then to Amhurst Primary on Witches Lane. My mother still lives in the village on Chesterfield Road near the Bullfinch. When I went to Amhurst I remember Miss Parsons well she was my form teacher one year and I found her quite scary and strict - she was always sending me out of the class into the rain for punishment! Mr Poole was still the headmaster when I was there too.
Tony Renwick, I remember you from primary school. I'm Katy Stevens and lived in Uplands Way. I went to both Riverhead schools. I remember Fred from Rock House and I think a girl called Mary? As you say, Fred was really funny and kind. I was friends with Linda Wright, Alison Green and Caroline Shaw. I remember Cindy Sparrow, Christine Hambidge. Chris Uby, Joanne Moore-Drury, Mr. Poole, Steve Stanford, Kevin Bull, Robert Borrowman, Dodie Stanley - I saw Dodie a few years ago at a funeral service for Heather Schaessens who also lived in Marlborough Crescent and I think was at Witches Lane briefly. Mick Robbins is still around and now lives in Eastbourne. I am in touch with him via Facebook and would happily pass on your contact details if you like. One of my brothers, Mark, married Caroline King from Marlborough Crescent...I think you lived next door or nearby and knew Johnny? Would anyone still be in touch with Linda Wright? She used to live in the cottages adjacent to Bradbourne Riding Stables.
