Why Ashworth

A Memory of Rochdale.

We left Rochdale when I was three, so only have memories of visits to aunties and uncles. We stayed at Deplish Cottage, my mother's family hom, the Frosts. Father was an Ashworth, is there a link to Ashworth Valley? We used to visit every year, but no more - it isn't the Rochdale we used to know. Any info about the names would be good.

Isn't Deeplish at the end of Ashfield Valley? I used to live near the valley and also the church on top of the hill at Ashworth. Not much to Ashworth as a village, just a church but Ashfield Valley was all connected and an area. I used to live at top of Clay Lane, I think Firbarn Lane where the reservoir once was. Houses now! I wonder if there is ever a shortage of water up there as there is in the SE of the UK every summer. No idea why they filled in that big reservoir but it is an estate now.
