Fort Or Folly Near City Lawn Tennis Club

A Memory of Rochester.

Can anyone please shed any light on what was (or is) an old fort or folly in woodland behind the Lawn Tennis club off Maidstone Road? I have a photo but I'm not sure it would come out well scanned. I remember as a kid we walked slightly off the walking track and scrambled down a slope into copse where there was this tower and a walk way.
It's been driving me nuts since I couldn't find it when I visited a couple of years ago. Any help would be great.

I have found some information which will be of help.. If you look under Fort Clarence, Rochester by Keith R Gulvin which is a short history of the Fort. Also included is a map of the area. You folly was the old Maidstone Road guardhouse which was demolished circa 1965.
https://www.theguardian.com/money/gallery/2017/jul/18/fort-clarence-kent-in-pictures there was a trench or ditch running from opposite the old RGS Grammar School, up Clarence Road and the block house was up the top. In front of the block house on St Margarets St was Borstal Gardens and in the early 60's as kids, we'd still enter the block house via tunnels in the barrier ditch that ran down to the river.
