More about this scene
Rothwell is an old town with a market charter from King John's reign. Built around its fine market place, it found new life in the 19th century when it joined Northamptonshire's boot and shoe industry with several factories and terraces of hard red Midland brick houses. This view looks east from the High Street to the west tower of the large medieval parish church. To the left is a former manor house, once the Urban District Council offices.
